Sonata Software expands Microsoft AI partnership as enterprises move toward agentic systems

Enterprise AI is moving from experimentation toward systems that can interact directly with the technology businesses already use. As companies look to deploy AI agents capable of accessing data and taking actions, the infrastructure behind those systems is becoming a central part of the equation.

That shift is reflected in Microsoft’s decision to recognize Sonata Software with the 2026–2027 Microsoft AI Business Solutions Inner Circle Award, placing the company among the top tier of Microsoft’s global AI Business Solutions partner network. It is Sonata’s sixth Inner Circle recognition.

Sonata has worked with Microsoft for more than three decades and currently develops capabilities across Dynamics 365, Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Power Platform and Copilot. Its broader AI strategy includes AI-led modernization, AI-ready data, resilient AI operations and AI-led service delivery.

“The ability to embrace AI to deliver value and enterprise velocity will differentiate organizations in an AI-led era,” said Anthony Lange, Chief Revenue Officer, Sonata Software. “Our sixth Inner Circle recognition reflects the engineering depth we bring to helping enterprises turn AI into measurable business value. Together with Microsoft, we’re helping them move from systems of record to systems capable of autonomous action.”

That last transition is particularly relevant to the development of agentic AI. An AI system that simply generates an answer can operate within a relatively contained environment. An agent expected to act on behalf of a business needs access to enterprise data, connections to applications and permissions that determine what it can do.

Sonata’s recent expansion within Microsoft’s ecosystem is also focused on that area. The company joined Microsoft’s Copilot Agents & Platform Engineering Depth Partners program and became a Microsoft Frontier Partner, deepening its engagement with Microsoft’s Engineering and Product teams around advancing and scaling agentic AI.

The recognition also reflects Microsoft’s broader approach to its partner ecosystem. Niels Jensen, Microsoft AI Business Solutions ERP Lead in Enterprise Partner Solutions, said the Inner Circle represents more than commercial performance:

“Inner Circle partners represent our top selling partners worldwide. But it is more than a sales recognition; it’s a community of industry leaders who work closely with Microsoft to accelerate innovation, share experience and shape the future of AI-powered business transformation. The collaboration and commitment to customer success demonstrated by this community helps us advance the entire AI Business Solutions partner ecosystem around the world to deliver transformative business outcomes at scale.”

Sonata says it has more than 6,400 AI engineers and uses its Platformation™ framework as part of its modernization work across global markets.

As enterprises begin connecting AI to the applications and data that run their businesses, the challenge is becoming less about deploying an AI model in isolation and more about building the technology environment that allows it to operate.
